A "MacBook Air on rent" in India can mean machines nine years apart. On 9 October 2026 we read the price pages of eight Indian rental companies. The MacBook Airs on offer ran from a 2017 Intel model to the 2025 M5. A lower monthly figure often means an older machine, so compare the device before you compare the rent.
What the listings show
- The MacBook Airs listed ranged from a 2017 Intel Core i5 model to the current M5.
- Several listings were M1 machines, first sold in 2020.
- One company's page says its devices may be pre-owned, lightly used or new.
- Some listings name the chip but not the memory or storage, and one listing's title and specification table disagree on the memory.
- Some prices are "from" figures with no term attached; others apply only to a 12-month term.
- GST was included in one displayed price, stated as extra on a few, and not mentioned on most.
Why the model year matters for a business
Security updates. A 2017 MacBook Air cannot install macOS Ventura or anything later: Apple's Ventura compatibility list starts at the 2018 MacBook Air. Its last supported release, macOS Monterey, received its last security update on 29 July 2024, according to Apple's security releases page. A company Mac with no security updates is a risk most IT teams would not accept on a bought machine, and renting it does not make it safer.
The chip. Every Mac Apple sells today runs on Apple silicon. An M1 machine is four generations behind the M5, and a 2017 Air is an Intel machine from before Apple silicon. For email and documents the difference is small. For engineering, design and video work it is the difference between a laptop and a bottleneck.
The battery. A refurbished laptop's battery has already worked through part of its life. Ask for the battery's condition in writing, not just a promise that it was checked.
The warranty. A new Mac carries Apple's one-year limited warranty. A refurbished one carries whatever cover the rental company offers, so read that line closely.
Four questions to ask before comparing rents
- Exactly which Mac is it? Chip, memory, storage and model year, in writing on the quote.
- Is it new and sealed, or refurbished? If refurbished, what is the battery's condition?
- Which macOS will it run, and is Apple still shipping security updates for that release?
- What is the rent for which term, and is GST included or extra?
What we rent
Adalwin Commerce™ is an Authorised Apple Reseller and enrolled Apple DPP partner in India. Every Mac and iPad we rent is new and factory-sealed, and every listed model is a current one. The MacBook Air 13-inch M5 with 16GB and 512GB is ₹6,746 a month plus GST on a 36-month term. That is not the lowest monthly figure you will find in a search. It is the price of a current, new machine, and the whole catalogue shows the rent for every configuration.
Send the roles and headcount and we will put the exact models, the term and the GST on one quote: rentals.adalwin.com/quote.
Questions
Are rented MacBooks in India new or refurbished?
It depends on the company. Listings we read on 9 October 2026 ranged from a 2017 Intel MacBook Air to the 2025 M5, and one company says its devices may be pre-owned, lightly used or new. Ask for the model year and condition in writing.
Can a 2017 MacBook Air run the current macOS?
No. Apple's macOS Ventura compatibility list starts at the 2018 MacBook Air. The 2017 model's last release, macOS Monterey, received its last security update on 29 July 2024.
Why are some MacBook rentals so much cheaper?
Usually because the machine is older, refurbished, or priced for a shorter term or without GST. Compare the exact model, its condition, the term and the GST before comparing the monthly figure.
Does Adalwin rent refurbished MacBooks?
No. Every Mac and iPad Adalwin Rentals rents is new and factory-sealed, bought through the Apple Distribution Partner Program.
