Diwali corporate gifts under ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 for 2026

You have a headcount and a budget under ₹1,000 or ₹2,000 a head. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, so gifts have to land by Friday 6 November. A branded order shipping across India needs artwork signed off by Friday 2 October, or Friday 9 October at the fast end. A Pune-only order has until Wednesday 21 October.

What ₹1,000 a head buys

This is the band most Indian companies use for all-staff gifting, and the first budget where a genuine hamper works. What ₹2,000 a head buys

Same basis: per piece, exclusive of GST, before the volume discount, branding included on the same terms.

At this budget the gift stops being a gesture and becomes an object somebody keeps on their desk. The choice matters most here: ₹1,800 spent on the wrong thing is noticed more than ₹400 spent on the wrong thing. For context, on 26 September 2026 Loopify's own site put most programmes at ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 a person, tax and shipping extra, minimum 50 units.

The volume ladder is 8% off at 25 to 49 units, 15% at 50 to 99, 22% at 100 to 249 and 30% at 250 and above. 120 people sits in the 22% step.

Order-by dates for Diwali 2026

Working days are Monday to Friday. Branded production is 15 to 20 working days from artwork sign-off, 10 within Pune. Five working days of courier transit pan-India and two within Pune are planning allowances, not a published commitment. Brief to sign-off is allowed five working days: quote (24 working hours), sample (2 to 5 working days), approvals.

The comfortable pan-India brief date, Friday 25 September, has passed as this is published. A brief on Monday 28 September still makes the 9 October fast end: the written quote comes back in 24 working hours and the digital proof goes out the day you approve it, so with artwork ready and no sample, sign-off can happen inside the week. Tax thresholds: ₹15,000 income tax, ₹50,000 GST

Income tax, the employee's side: gifts in kind from an employer have nil perquisite value up to an aggregate of ₹15,000 in the tax year, under Rule 3(7)(iv) of the Income-tax Rules 1962, with effect from 1 April 2026, under the Income-tax Act 2025 and the Rules made under it. Most search results still quote the old ₹5,000. Cash and anything convertible to cash, gift cheques included, gets no exemption.

GST, the company's side: under Entry 2 of Schedule I to the CGST Act 2017, gifts not exceeding ₹50,000 in a financial year from an employer to an employee are not treated as a supply, so no GST arises on them; above that the employer accounts for GST on the excess. The two thresholds do not interact.

Section 17(5)(h) of the CGST Act blocks input tax credit on goods disposed of by way of gift, confirmed by CBIC Circular No. 92/11/2019-GST, so GST on a Diwali gift is usually a cost, not a credit. What goes wrong

• The budget was set inclusive of GST and the quote is exclusive. At 18% GST, ₹999 plus GST is ₹1,179 inclusive at list price, and ₹919 inclusive after the 22% discount. Decide which number the budget is before you shortlist.
• Headcount moves after sign-off. At ₹999 list, 96 pieces come to ₹81,518 and 100 pieces come to ₹77,922, both plus GST. Four extra pieces cost ₹3,596 less. Confirm the number before you shortlist, and round up to the step.
• The production clock starts at artwork sign-off, not at the purchase order. A PO on 2 October with artwork approved on 12 October is a 12 October order.
• The brief waits for the sample. Send both together; the sample takes 2 to 5 working days.
